Each of the Sundays on this schedule includes attendance at the 8:15 AM choir rehearsal (in the pews down by the piano in the upstairs church) and at the 9:00 AM Family Mass. Our dress code, unless announced otherwise on this schedule, will be black or navy bottoms and white tops.
Our choir ranges from Grade 1 on up, with older kids having more cantor opportunities and our high school age kids assisting the choir as Youth Leaders. Many of the kids in Grade 1 can’t read well at the start of the year, however, soon they are learning more rapidly. You should expect 1st Graders to be a bit behind for the first few choir sessions, but by year’s end they will be singing loud and strong!
Parents, please make sure you give your name and email address to one of our adult helper, Ginny Lawrence, to be added to our choir email group list. We use the email group list sparingly, but find it helpful to remind you of dates, dress code, snow cancellations, etc. To be placed on our email contact list, either send an email to Michael Vaughan directly and request to be added to the Children’s Choir email group list or give your info to Ms Lawrence on any choir Sunday. You can cancel participation anytime by sending a single email to Michael with a request to be dropped from the list.
SNOW POLICY – Weather related cancellations willnot be posted on our parish web site <www.saintagnes.net> or on our church music web site <www.agnesmusic.net>. Rather, you will only be notified of a weather related cancellation through our email list—when in doubt, please check your email before taking your child to church on a scheduled choir Sunday or call or email Michael Vaughan directly (contact info below). If CCD is canceled due to bad weather or if there is snow accumulation more than a ‘dusting’, then you can assume that there will also be no choir.
There have been a few instances where a parent has mistaken the choir schedule and arrived on the wrong Sunday or failed to pay attention to a snow cancellation before dropping their child at the curb and driving away, only to learn later that there was no choir that morning. IMPORTANT: once you have arrived at church, if there is any doubt regarding a potential weather related cancellation, please walk your child into the church and confirm that one of the adult leaders is in place, before departing. We ask that parents of the youngest children, who are singing with us for the first few times, please remain in the church during rehearsal hour just in case they need their parent! Thank you for following these prudent steps to insure the safety of each of our choir kids.
We are very grateful to our choir assistant, Virginia Lawrence, and to our wonderful accompanist, Kimberly Howe, to each of our teenage Youth Leaders of the choir and to all of the kids who show up each week to sing so energetically leading our Sunday family mass and we are especially grateful to our choir director, Diane Stickles, for her dedicated leadership each Sunday! Thank you all! You can always find the full year’s choir schedule at www.agnesmusic.net
